2024 Third Annual Activism, Advocacy, & Authorship Symposium
March 22, 2024 from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM In-Person & ZOOM
The GGU Race, Gender, Sexuality, and Social Justice Law Journal is hosting its Third Annual Activism, Advocacy, and Authorship Symposium on Friday, March 22 from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm. This event will be held in person on campus and will also be live-streamed via Zoom for remote attendance.
The theme of this year’s symposium is “Express Yourself,” inspired by a song released in 1970 that was written by Charles Wright. In this hit song, Charles Wright encourages audiences to express themselves through any means they can, and this song quickly became an anthem of the civil rights movements in the 1970s. This Law Journal was created so that our courageous and talented law students can have an inclusive space to express themselves regarding contemporary civil rights and social justice issues, as well as emerging legal trends and developments impacting people of all socio-economic backgrounds. Our Writers and Editors seek to address continuing injustices by focusing on our own four pillars: race, gender, sexuality, and social justice. Under each of these pillars, we have published work from our Writers, bringing a unique perspective in each writing that serves as a reminder that a fresh perspective can make all the difference.
Writers and Editors will be paired together based on related themes in their writings to question each other on their work, rather than a traditional lecture-style symposium. While not all of our publications will be presented, each writing nevertheless furthers the cause of bringing attention to issues that fall by the wayside in traditional spaces.
Please join us for an engaging afternoon! There will be a reception to follow the event with food, drinks, and an opportunity to mingle and network with all attendees.
This event is open to all students, GGU alums, all legal professionals, and anyone interested in hearing from GGU Law students. Please register for the event using this form: https://forms.gle/8e7E2eLeC5PDEg8E8.
Registration deadline for in-person attendance: Friday, March 15 at 11:59 pm.
